Time for the west Texas temperatures to begin soaring into the triple digits.
Yes, summer is coming to the world with a vengeance bringing with it the almost insane desire to continue our camping and traveling trips. So here's our incomplete list of happenings we have planned for the rest of the year:
- Take our PuP to San Angelo State Park for a couple of nights to celebrate Mother's Day. Yes, I know, the lake at the park is DRY now but we can still walk the trail and head into town for an evening of fine dining. But what am I saying? It's San Angelo.
- Next trip is a surprise for My Sweetie. She doesn't know where I'm taking her for a mid-week holiday. Well, it may not be all that fun as we have to listen to a 2 hour presentation on why we should buy their time share. But, at least it should be in doors in an air conditioned room.
- We head out to a New Mexico state park (Leasburg Dam) for an extended weekend of camping and visiting the World Famous Hatch Chili Festival in the village of Hatch, NM. I'm looking forward to this trip already.
- Here in west Texas we don't get much color change in our trees when autumn comes around. So, we are camping at Lost Maples SP in October to see what those reds and oranges look like in the trees. (Here, the leaves go from dead brown to fall on the ground, usually during a 30 mph windstorm.)
- Once the temperature cools way down, we're heading to the Chisos Mountains basin at Big Bend National Park and spend a couple of nights in their lodge. This is just to see if we remember how to sleep in beds when we're in a park.
I'm sure we will have other trips interspersed here and there before the new year comes a knocking on our door.
Happy Camping, ya'll!
