Yep. I'm shiverin' in my boots. You see, we are actually taking a short trip to a whole nuther state - New Mexico.
I'm not sure if I need to take my passport or if'n my Texas i-dee will be OK. And I don't know fur shore if'n they drive on the right or left side of the road there.
Actually, my Sweetie and I are going to be staying in a KOA for the first time ever. We broke down and decided to try one out in case we need to hit something other than parks when we make our big trip to the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and other parks in Utah next year. And this KOA is located close to Brantley Lake just northwest of Carlsbad, NM.
After a lot of discussion, we decided that going to the Carlsbad Caverns would be fun for a short weekend. Plus, we will be able to go see the Living Desert and maybe even Sitting Bull Falls. We haven't decided if we will go to Roswell and see the UFO museum or if we will go to Guadalupe National Park (in Texas) to round out the trip.
I know about the fires but, according to the websites, the park is open again and the KOA isn't in any danger. I just hope the fires stay away! And that it will be cooler there than it has been for us in Big Bend, Seminole Canyon, and Palo Duro Canyon!
